For me all three products were a necessity. I was not ready though, My first exercise I could feel the pain down my neck and back and triggered migraines for another week. I ended up adding tabs on my book :) so I could find the locations easier. I did use this for some acute pain I had after sitting for so long due to upper back/neck pain and migraines. This book The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook, also Trigger Point Therapy for Headaches & Migraines: and the Body Back Buddy. I just go down my back, across my shoulder, under scapula and anywhere else that is tender:) Please read my review on the Body Back Buddy.
I bought this book when I also bought the Body Back Buddy for information on how to use it. These areas have referred pain from trigger points, meaning the trigger point is NOT where the pain is located, and the book is necessary to know these locations. My neck and back were so tight they spent most of the time trying to relax the muscles. I also use an ice pack most of the time after doing the trigger point therapy. I discovered the Body Back Buddy and this book when I looked up the theracane. My back back I guess I used the book for information, but it is easier to identify. This book gives you all the information about Trigger Point therapy and the most common areas. Many areas of pain have a different location of the trigger point, so it is important to look up.
this author provided some additional information on Trigger point therapy and additional information on the areas of concern for me. Finally after 2 months of Physical Therapy I was greatly improved but still had pain. After one month and my Doctor asking me how much I could do, I had to tell the Physical Therapist I needed exercises and needed to determine activity level. It is easy to over do, and sometimes cause more pain. Trigger Point therapy has been my answer to managing my own pain.
I also bought Trigger Point Therapy for Headaches & Migraines: Your Self-Treatment Workbook for Pain Relief (Paperback) Valerie Delaune. All are reasonably priced. I have found using an ice pack after really helps prevent rebound imflammation and pain. It is quite easy to locate your area of pain and the diagrams are excellent showing the area of pain and then each trigger point and the area it works on. When I asked my Physical therapist how I was going to manage the pain, he suggested the theracane.
I have been going to a Massage Therapist weekly for over 10 years, and last summer had to go to Physical Therapy. I ended up with some low back pain, leg pain and foot pain when going back to work. I mentioned this book and explain my experience with using the Body Back Buddy for trigger point therapy.
Clear and concise persentation. I learned a lot from this book and have been able to understand my trigger point pattern more clearly. You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain by having this book as a guide. Anyone can grasp what the author is trying to convey. Have also been able to release muscle knots and tension I've had for years, not just in the surface muscles but in the deeper ones as well. Anyone with trigger points will benefit greatly from reading this book and putting the methods into practice.
I used the cane with the help of the workbook and have relieved the pain and numbness. I purchased The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook along with the Theracane and found substantial relief. Anyone with knots, this along with the Theracane are a "must have". I still get knots, but am able to work on them and get relief before they get to the point of being unmanagable. I had mild numbness in my arm and had pain in my neck and shoulders. I had been to physical therapy for a number of weeks but didn't get much relief.
This book is so over my head because I am not a Massage Therapist, so I don't know the terminology necessary to apply the lessons within. Seems to be a great teaching tool for someone who knows the body. WARNING: If you don't know what the letters after the Author's name stand for, this book is probably not for you either. This book is EXTREMELY detailed. I am going to send it to my cousin who is a Certified Massage Therapist, she would find it useful and maybe I can get a discount on my next massage. I bought this book figuring I would be able to figure it out. I was incorrect in that assumption.
It got me relief and an understanding of the muscle works and what it takes to relive muscle pain. This is truly an amazing book and if you have muscle problems it will change how you deal with them.
